Lomond System Season 2019

The angling season for migratory fish on the Lomond System opens on Monday 11 February.

Over the past fortnight Leven regulars assisted by the bailiffs have been out on the banks of the river for some pre-season fresh air and hard graft….

This is the best time of year to tackle any pruning and bank maintenance before the ‘ground nesting bird’ season arrives. It’s also a good chance to get some bodies out working before the fishing takes over.

The first weekend saw clearances made from the Top Pool, through Stuckie Bridge and Linnbrane to Bonhill Pool…

….strimming and pruning the banks and access points. Posts have been cemented in for a hand rail making entry easier at the Glebe.

Last weekend our volunteers cleared from Bonhill, down through Sandy Hole to the Bucks….

Looking quite manicured….

Another work party has been arranged for this weekend meeting at Bonhill Bridge on Saturday at 0900 hrs. Everyone  invited. Thanks to those who have helped so far, especially our River Leven Rep. Derek Hughes for organising and coordinating this very worthwhile project. A great bit of work guys and hope it will become an annual event.

River Leven season tickets are now available from our usual outlets. See our web page for details. Full memberships can be applied for online or through the LLAIA Secretary, 4 Woodside Place, Glasgow, G3 7QF.
