Please note that LLAIA were alerted to an incident within Glen Fruin on Tuesday evening 2nd January concerning the failure of the Finnart to Grangemouth pipeline and release of hydrocarbon to the environment.

A major incident was declared and a multi-agency response was initiated headed by Argyle & Bute Council. Given that at this particular time in the year spawning areas potentially could potentially be affected by such a pollution event. It is our understanding that whilst this is being treated as a serious incident the area concerning the escape is not immediately close to the River Fruin or a tributary of the River Fruin.

The LLFT have been involved and we are in contact with their biologists. We are closely monitoring the situation and  being updated with actions on site regarding containment and mitigation. We will keep members informed of further details when we have them. Further details can be found in the links below from various sources.
