The 2024 Season is off and running with reports last week of the first Salmon of  2024 being caught.

On Tuesday 30th April reports were received of Leven angler Alan Brown successfully hooking and landing a lovely fish

of between 15-18lb in the morning on a flying C. Congratulations and very well done Alan. (no image available).

This catch was followed by Jonathon Boyle on Tuesday 2nd May who successfully landed a nice fish at “Ritchie’s Lade” with Chic MacLean assisting with the net. Once more congratulations and well done Jonathon. (no image available).

A little later than normal it is however good to get off the mark and hopefully we will now begin to see more fish coming off the system in the coming weeks. Numbers of fish have been seen moving through the system in recent weeks but you need too be in it to win it as they say and put some hours on the water to succeed.

VOLDAC / Walking With the Wounded Angling Open Day – Saturday 4th May,2024

On Saturday 4th May VOLDAC sponsored an event for veterans charity “Walking With the Wounded” intended to provide an introduction to veterans of the basics of angling. Legendary angler and actor Paul Young provided excellent support and advice to those new to angling and there were events on fly tying, spey casting, how to rig a pike rig, safety talks from the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat and a Salmon Conservation presentation from Dr Nick Beevers of the Loch Lomond Fisheries Trust.

Your association supported the event and enabled veterans to fish by providing the necessary day permits and more.

A special thanks and acknowledgement is due to all who donated fishing equipment, including Ticker’s Tackle Shop in Helensburgh, all equipment donated was presented and gratefully received.

Well done to everyone involved and hopefully this is the first of many such collaborative events where VOLDAC, the LLAIA, the LLFT and many other like minded organisations and individuals can come together to help others in the community and to promote angling.
